Why same-day replacement almost never happens (anywhere)

First, your exact windshield has to be identified. The same model year can have three or four different windshields depending on rain sensors, acoustic glass, and camera brackets — which is why we ask for your VIN or license plate.
Second, that exact glass usually isn’t sitting on a local shelf. It has to be ordered from a distributor.
Third, technicians are routed the night before. By morning, every van already has a full day of scheduled appointments. A shop that squeezes you in same-day is either lucky — they happen to stock your glass and had a cancellation — or they’re about to call you back with an excuse.
The two questions that expose the bait
If a shop promises you same-day service on the phone, ask these two questions before you give them your information:
“Is my exact windshield physically in your building right now?”
“Is a technician actually unassigned today?”
